The event which held earlier today at the main campus of the prestigious university provided an opportunity for old comrades to reunite as the acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adaobi Obasi and some top management staff of the university could not hide their joy at seeing some of the young men and women they taught few years ago, who have now become top men in government, business, academics and other professional endeavors.
The Chief of staff who was among the first set of students Union executives of the university reiterated to the students who came out in their numbers to grace the occasion, that there is yet to be found an alternative to hard work, God's grace, honesty and humility for anyone aspiring to go far in life as he encouraged them to learn from his own trajectory. In his own words; "I did not wake up one day to become a Chief of Staff, my position is as a result of hard work, humility, patience, consistency and most importantly, God's grace."
He encouraged the students to dream big as he prayed that top leaders shall be found from among them in the nearest future. Going spiritual, he prayed that the new SUG secretariat shall produce ministers, governors, professors, captains of industry, Chief Judges and even top diplomats to the level of a UN Secretary-general.
On their part, the students thanked him for responding speedily to their cry for help as they had literally operated without a secretariat for some years now as the old David Ufomba secretariat was pulled down in the course of construction of the many Rescue Mission projects that have graced the school in recent years. They praised the eminent alumnus for his many youth centered intervention projects and assistance and assured him that he is a role model to the youths of Imo State in particular and Nigeria in general, while pleading with him never to relent on his good deeds.
