APGA:Captain Iheanacho Gets recognized as Okey Ezeh fights on

The struggle for APGA Governorship candidate for IMO state has taken a different dimension this time.
The campaign team of the All
Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship
election candidate, Emmanuel Ihenacho, has
attempted to clear the confusion ensuing from
the outcome of the opposition's primary
elections in Imo State.
Emperor Iwuala, Director of Information and
Publicity of the Captain Ihenacho Campaign
Organisation, conceded that since the December
8 poll, the media had been inundated with an
impression that there was confusion as to who
the authentic governorship candidate for APGA
in Imo State was.
“This media hype has been continuously
sponsored by one of the aspirants who lost in
the exercise by name, Okey Ezeh,” Iwuala said
blaming the contestant who could not be
reached for comment.
According to AGPA, Ihenacho won the poll after
securing 972 votes to Eze’s 44 votes.
Okechukwu Unegbu polled three votes while 16
were void.
“Consequently, Capt Ihenacho was returned
elected as the party’s flag-bearer for the 2015
Governorship Election in Imo State and also
issued with a Certificate of Return before the
close of the exercise.
candidate for 2015
One of the contestants Mazi Okey Unegbu has
since congratulated Capt Ihenacho promising to
support the candidate and the party to win the
2015 general elections,” said Iwuala in a
statement.
Subsequently, the Independent National Electoral
Commission has also issued the former minister
with the commission’s nomination form, he
added.
“However, it is very ridiculous that the runner up
in that primary election, Mr Ezeh, has
continuously tried to deceive some sections of
the press and the general public with absolute
falsehood and fake press statements,” Iwuala
said.
There are claims one Chief C. C. Nwaka posited
himself as the chairman of APGA in Imo State
and declared Ezeh the party’s governorship flag-
bearer while the latter reportedly claimed his
name had been forwarded to INEC as the
authentic governorship candidate.
It is believed Nwaka claims to have suspended
Ihenacho and Peter Ezeobi, the authentic
chairman, from APGA.
“Initially, we had ignored the above, fraudulent,
ridiculous, childish, unpatriotic and wicked
claims. But the recent confusion Okey Ezeh’s
drama is trying to cause has made it incumbent
on us to come up with the true position of
things,” said Iwuala.
