Just as the country is counting its losses at
the building collapse in Lagos, another three-
storey building at Shogoye bus stop area, Bode
community in Ibadan, Oyo State, collapsed
yesterday leaving several people under the
rubble.
Though, rescue efforts were on-going at the
time of filing this report, it was gathered that
those trapped were calling for help.
As at the time of writing this report, there
was no casualty recorded but various security
agents were battling to rescue those trapped
under the concrete.
According to an eyewitness at the scene, when
calls were made to one of the victims phone
few minutes after the collapse, there was no
response.
One of the survivors, Toheeb Gbadamosi,
explained that: “Today is my first time of
working at this place. I just came around in
order to raise some money for my upkeep
because things were difficult. I thank God
that I came out of the rubble alive”.
Another survivor, Olalekan Dauda said he and
others were on the third floor when the
building suddenly caved in.
In his own account, Alfa Mojeed Agbaje, who
said he had two of his relatives under the
rubble, stated, “I am worried because other
people that I know are presently in the
wreckage. Tunde sustained injuries on his face
and limbs. We have taken him to Molete
Hospital and he is recuperating”.
